In the past, a number of you who live in the ‘burbs have asked for a bar outside of the city that you can go to and watch the games as a group. I am happy to announce that Kim Landego has volunteered to lead our search for just such a place. We will keep you posted once she finds a place that meets our standards.

Saban

Coach Nick Saban is up for Liberty Mutual’s Coach of the Year. It’s an online fan popularity contest, and the coach who receives the most votes wins a $50,000 donation to his favorite charity. This is a great opportunity to support Coach Saban’s charity, Nick’s Kids. Go to www.coachoftheyear.com and vote early and often!

If you haven’t paid your dues and received your free t-shirt, you can do so on www.rolltidechicago.com. A portion of your dues goes directly toward the scholarship fund each year. Our fund is almost large enough where we can give away an annual scholarship. Once we reach that point, the chapter will received a framed certificate and will be honored in a ceremony at the annual National Alumni Association meeting. Our Vice President, Laura Jansen, attended this year’s meeting during Homecoming weekend, and she said that the scholarship presentations were very moving. So pay that dues (and buy those raffle tickets!) so that we can reach that goal and be honored at the 2010 meeting.

Please note that if you joined last year, you will need to re-join this year. It is $20 for a single (one free t-shirt) and $30 for a family (two free t-shirts).
